As a kind gesture for a pleasant interaction. I have many players who bow, engage in a fun and interesting fight, and typically I’ll leave before I kill them or I’ll give them embers. I don’t think those things are courteous or sportsmanlike. Eventually parry spamming or something gets me and it’s point down and poo. Or I’m fighting an invader, and I’m using a clearly under optimized build vs. What I get instead is overleveled’s and host all sitting in the bonfire room waiting for a 4v1. I’m an invader primarily, I expect people to have a big ol group and try to beat the level. Conversely, pointing down, throwing poo, ganking a established 1v1. It’s courteous to not attack a solo host in npc’s, it’s good sportsmanship to bow after a fight. What I believe in instead is a combination of courtesy and sportsmanship. I don’t think honor is reasonable in DS3. Some people are honorable when it’s convenient, and stop when they wish. Some people think that invading is scummy griefing, so they don’t deserve honor. I dislike the term “honor”, as its definition is fluid.
